ScreenKap v 2.1 - Command-line Screen Capture

ScreenKap.exe is a command-line program that will capture the current active Windows screen as an image to a file in either JPEG, Windows Bitmap, or PNG formats.

ScreenKap is a console-mode application. A GUI counterpart to ScreenKap ( ScreenKapWin ) is also provided. ScreenKapWin can be used where the console screen should not be visibly displayed in the captured window.

Using ScreenKap

To try out ScreenKap, save ScreenKap.exe and _ISource.dll in a folder. Invoke a CMD prompt ( Click Start/Run and type in "cmd" without the double-quotes. ) Change to the folder where you saved ScreenKap.exe. Invoke the utility by typing:
ScreenKap -file test.jpg

You should see a new file in the same directory with the name test.jpg. Use your preferred graphics viewer to look at the file. You might just type:

start test.jpg

...to try to view the file.

ScreenKap accepts up to three pairs of parameters:

Paying for ScreenKap

You may try ScreenKap and ScreenKapWin for up to 30 days at no cost. You must pay the registration fee if you continue to ScreenKap or ScreenKapwin after 30 days.

The registration for a single license of ScreenKap/ScreenKapWin is $20 in U.S. funds. This will allow one person to use ScreenKap.exe or ScreenKapWin.exe on a single PC.

System Requirements

ScreenKap should function on any 32-bit Windows OS from Win95 to Vista. Please contact me if you have issues on a particular operating-system and we'll work them out.

ScreenKap.exe needs no runtimes other than the bundled _ISource.dll library.

You'll notice a "nag" watermark message in the images that are saved in the trial edition of ScreenKap. This message is not present in the registered version.

The trial software will stop functioning after about 30 days.

ScreenKap does not write to ( nor read from ) the Windows registry. The only files written to are the graphics files specified on the command-line.

ScreenKap does not require any installation process nor does it require an un-installation process. Just delete the files if you choose not to register.


Restrictions

You may not redistribute ScreenKap.exe unless you purchase a redistribution license.

You may not decompile nor disassemble ScreenKap.exe.
